Live Each Day Stirring Up Your Gift!
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven; A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8).
Live Each Day Stirring Up Your Gift!
It is good to start once again with a shout for the joy that God gives us each and every day. With His peace, we can go each day without any doubt that He is with us. I thank God for your faithfulness in serving Him, wherever you may be and whatever you are doing. Stay in faith, for His grace will make you see the wonders of His love.
We are to continue in love with Jesus each day. Sometimes it is easier said than done, but if we believe that He is the grace that He gave us to continue in life, then we should know that nothing is impossible with God. We know without a doubt that we are believers in the finished work of Jesus Christ. The best is yet to come as we work and wait each and every day. I pray always that you are trusting God for your blessings and your miracles. Amen and Amen. Blessings to you as we begin this beautiful week.
Now let us continue talking about the wisdom seeds that we began talking on last week and focus on what He has for us this year. As we read above in our Scripture readings, there is always a time for everything under the sun. We understand that it is God who created it to be that way.
My friends, it is good to know that the Seed principle is in effect when we pray for something and His answer does not seem to resemble what we prayed for. One thing that we must understand and know is that God does not make mistakes. Could it be that we need to patiently tend the seed until it reproduces? Just think about what I am saying here today. Could some kind of grinding (that is, in the form of crisis) be involved in the process of producing, at long last, the things you prayed for?
You prayed for the harvest, the end product. Take for example, if you have been praying for money, and He gave you a job! Do you see my point here? So, there you go - your hard work is the cultivation process. In return, you are reaping the money that you prayed for.
You see, money is not a bad thing to pray for. Just one thing you have to understand is, do not be surprised when the answer you get is in the form of a seed you must cultivate until harvest. Yes, it is God who may deploy you to sow some seed and to take care of it until it grows up. Then you can have your harvest, and with it comes the idea of sowing some more seed.
Moreover, you prayed that you would be a true citizen of the Kingdom. But instead of transforming you instantly into a fully mature believer, He just sent you a crisis! What is happening? Well, out of the midst of the fire, His intent is to purify you.
What He is doing is, He wants you to come out shiny and strong so that you can, like a true citizen of the Kingdom, reproduce Kingdom life generously. Again, God does not give you a ready to-eat bread. No, He gives you the seed. This shows that He is a wise Father. You know as well as I do what happens when we just give a handout of bread to a beggar. It may take care of him for one day, but what about tomorrow? Once he eats the bread, he is back to begging for more. My friends, it is far better to help that beggar to earn a living so he can acquire his own bread. It may take a while, but it will be a better result.
The sad thing is, in this country that most of us are living in, many people, maybe more than half, think that what is yours is theirs – a free stuff mentality! So, we have a country that is now believing in free stuff, but that is not what Bible believers believe. No wonder why there is a lack in so many lives. It is not because they are poor, rather it is but one thing - they want to be given free stuff! So, the seed dies, and will not reproduce.
I encourage you, do not allow it to remain a mere seed. It is important for you to find it, plant it, and nurture it to maturity. If you do this, your seed will always multiply.
Just as we talked about the seed, the same principle applies to our vision. While the gift is in us, we have the responsibility to stir it up. As we see in 2 Timothy 1:6, Paul wrote to Timothy saying, “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you.” Now in the New King James version, the verse is translated, “Stir up the gift of God.”
My brothers and sisters, the gift is something God gave us. It is not something we learn. It is something that we need to discover and then stir up. You know, there is no one else who can activate your gift for you. You have to do it yourself. How do you stir your gift? By developing, refining, enhancing, and using it.
That is where the education comes in. Again, the education can’t give you your gift, but it can help you develop it so that it can be used to the maximum. Let us look at Proverbs 17:8, which says, “A gift is a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it, whithersoever it prospereth”. Wow!
Now what does that mean? Well, in other words, a gift is like a precious stone to the one who has it, and whenever he stirs it up, it turns into prosperity. That is why if you use your gift, it will prosper you. There are many people who are working for money. Let me tell you even if you do not agree with me: that is an inferior reason to work. We must always work for the vision within us.
Nevertheless, you are not to mimic the gifts of others. You are to stir up your own gift. It’s okay - I am not talking to you. I am talking to the one sitting behind you or on the next row over.
We are living in a time when there are many people who are jealous of other people’s gifts. If you are doing this, you need to stop right now. Please be encouraged by what I am about to say to you. Do not waste your time on jealousy. Jealousy is a gift of the robber. It is an energy drainer that will always take away the passion of life from you. You should be so busy stirring up your gift that you don’t have time to be jealous of anyone else or to feel sorry for yourself. Do I make sense here?
In times past, I once read an article about Louis Armstrong, the jazz artist, who reportedly applied to go to music school when he was a young man. At his audition, he was given scales to sing, but he could sing only the first two notes properly, and he was told he didn’t have what it takes to be a musician. The story continues that he cried first because he had been rejected from the music program, but he told his friends afterward: “I know there’s music in me, and they can’t keep me out.”
You know the story. He eventually sold more records and made more money than scores of others who were more talented at singing. Now, he is forever etched in the history of music. So, the question is, what made the difference? He put his life into the gift he knew he had, and this gift made room for him. Not only that, but he was an original, and he knew it. He wasn’t about to waste time feeling sorry for himself. Instead, he put his energies into developing the musical gift within him.
You see, although we are all born as originals, most of us become imitators. There were early times of my life that I used to think about becoming like everyone else and joining the rat race, yet I soon realized that if all the rats are in a race, and you win, you simply become the Big Rat.
Today, I recommend that you get out of the rat race, stop competing with the community, stop being in a contest with society, stop trying to keep up with the Joneses, stop trying to please everybody else, and decide for your own self that you are not going to be a rat. You have to find your own niche. What you should start saying now is, “I am going to make room for myself in the world by using my God given gifts.”
In closing, perhaps you are turning fifty soon, or sixty like me, and you start to look back over those last fifty years and ask, “What have I done with my life? What can I leave for the next generation to know that I was here? I have left no footprint in the sands of history.” You may think, “Oh, I wish I had a better understanding of vision when I was young?” or, “I am too old now. I do not have any more energy or time to stir up my gift.” Now, if you believe that, then you’re believing a lie. Have a great and an awesome week. God bless you. Until next time, be in love with Jesus!
Prayer: I want to thank You for all that You have been doing in my life. As I look at my life, I see the changes You have made in me, allowing me to move forward. Thank You for reminding me that my better days are ahead of me. Help me to stir up my gift so I can share it with those who are around me. Forgive me for being so lazy and putting things off in my life. Help me to see the gift You purposed me with so I can move forward and realize that You are the beginning of my wisdom. And as I see my vision and re-align it with my destiny, I know that I can make it with Your help. I have the niche now to move forward and not to be jealous of things that others receive and do, because I know that I am an original. And with that originality, I can trust You for my work and for my job. Through what You are about to do with me in the coming weeks, let me not forget Your wisdom so I can always see clearly what I am to focus on from now until You call me home. Forgive me for being so careless with my natural given seed. I know that You will help me to nurture it and get ready to plant it so I can share the fruit of those seeds with others. Take away laziness and wishful thinking from my life. Instead, give me a desire to give more and share more for the generation to come. Let me not abort my seed by just sitting on it and thinking about it. Instead, let me move forward as the encouragement that I get each week challenges me to do.
My prayer for you: Bless Your people today, Father, and give them the desire of their hearts. Give them the favor among their fellow workers and everyone that are citizen of Your Kingdom. Thank You, Lord Jesus. We are in agreement for all things to come. In Jesus’ wonderful Name, amen and amen.
