Your Destiny Demands Diligence!
“Are not the little sparrows sold for a penny? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father’s leave (consent) and notice. But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, then; you are of more value than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10: 29-31).
Your Destiny Demands Diligence!
Good morning and welcome as we enjoy the life that has been given to us at the beginning of this year. I pray and hope that in this new year, you will be better in concentrating on what makes your vision more durable and fruitful, that in the end you will reap what you have sown from prior years to now.
I pray the God of understanding will give you the knowledge to see things as they are, and not as they were. So enjoy the journey, and do not look back at what is done and over with. Look to Jesus, the Author and the Finisher of your faith. Let’s get to our encouragement for today.
You know, the Song of Solomon is an allegory of the love story between God and His people. It is a joy to know that even in the Scriptures, it shows love letters and things to talk about and say to your spouse. Sometimes, you can even explain the sweetness of its taste in sharing it with those that you love.
I want you to look closely at the following Scripture: “[He exclaimed] O my love, how beautiful you are! There is no flaw in you!” (Song of Solomon 4:7). What a statement!
You see, God loves you and sees you. And isn’t that wonderful? It is certainly something to be grateful for! God sees what you are becoming and will be; He is not overly concerned about your faults. He knew all of them when He invited you to be in an intimate relationship with Him.
I want you to get this point so you can understand it. All God wants is your love and a willingness to grow in Him. Your presence is a present to the world. My friends, you are unique and one of a kind. Don’t ever forget that, not even for a day. Always remember how very special you are!
Sometimes, it is very hard to try to convince you of your value to God. He always has you at the top of everything that He created. You have to believe that in order for you to understand what He has in store. Stop allowing yourself to feel lower. Look to Jesus. He is the One who wants you to know and understand about His Kingdom.
Now we are going to start something very different and I want to encourage you to continue reading His Word. There, you will find the peace of God and He will give you joy that you have never felt before. I am telling you that the best is yet to come. The days are coming when you will see the glory of God right in your own life.
You know, destiny demands diligence. My recommendation for you is that you write that statement down on a piece of paper and put it where you can see it every day. If you are going to quit after a couple of challenges, you will never win. It takes persistence to withstand all opposition.
Nehemiah could have stopped his work on the wall of Jerusalem because of all the problems, slander, and jeers, but he was persistent. Not only that, but he was determined to complete his vision. Let me tell you this - you will never be successful unless you have the spirit of persistence. So, what does this word “persistence” mean?
Persistence really means that you insist on having what you are going after. You stop only after you’ve finished. You stand up against resistance until you wear it down, and you make people who are against you so tired of fighting that they either become your friends or leave you alone.
The question that I ask you is, how badly do you want your vision? As we read in the Bible, Jesus told a parable in Luke 18 about a persistent woman. She tirelessly appealed to the judge with her request for justice until he did, in essence, “Give it to her!” (Luke 18:2-8). I am telling you that God wants you to do the same thing as this woman.
What He wants you to say is, “This life, belongs to me!” Now, if life refuses to cooperate, go back and say the same thing every day until life eventually says, “Here it is, take it!” My friends, there are many people who lose because they quit when life says no the first time. But persistent people will always win, because when it comes to their vision, they never take no for an answer. The parable of the woman and the judge that I mentioned, illustrates the power that persistence can have in accomplishing what we truly desire.
At another time, Jesus told a similar parable that teaches us that success comes to those who persist not only in the natural realm, but also in the spiritual realm.
Let’s end this week’s devotional with this story: Suppose one of you has a friend, and he goes to him at midnight and says, “Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, because a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him.” Then the one inside answers, “Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children are with me in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything. I tell you, though he will not get up and give him the bread because he is his friend, yet because of the man’s boldness he will get up and give him as much as he needs. So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened (Luke 11:5-10).
Now as you develop a spirit of persistence, remember these truths about the nature of your Creator and His own persistence:
v He is a God who is faithful.
v He is a God who does not lie.
v He is a God that has established His Word.
v Your purpose has already been completed in Him.
v He is a God who delights in you and considers you His child.
So as you go this week, look to God for your vision and see what is there for you to accomplish in Him. Remember: God is a God who encourages your persistence. Do not give up so easily. Have a good week and God bless you and your family.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You that Your Word shows me just how much You love me. Regardless of what others may say, or even how I may feel myself, I choose to believe that I am deeply loved and wonderfully made by my Heavenly Father. In my life, I have been so lonely at times, and have given up so easily. I have also been tempted to give up when I have experienced resistance to my vision. Today, please help me to develop persistence and determination to see my vision through to fulfillment. I know in my heart that You are persistent in carrying out Your good purposes in my life. Today, please help me to see persistence in following after You and Your Word, as I pursue the dream You have given to me.
My prayer for you: God, go with your people and encourage them of Your Word. Bless them in everything that You do. May they fall in love with You, Jesus, more and more! We love You, Lord, today. Bless Your people and give them Your favor. Give them Your favor when they face obstacles of life. Never let the enemy steal what they know from You, oh God, and may they see that all is well. I thank You for what You have done in our lives. May Your Word continue to lead us and guide us as we live in these fast lifestyles. As we start this week, may we find peace with our co-workers. Let Your love shine in us. In Jesus’ wonderful Name. AMEN!
Thought: Persistence is withstanding all opposition!
