Stop Looking for God's Will Everywhere Else - Look in Yourself!
“Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon” (Isaiah 55:6-7).
Stop Looking for God’s Will Everywhere Else - Look in Yourself!
Good Morning and welcome to the month of March. Yes, we are almost a third done with this year! Can you believe that? I pray and hope you are staying the course. I know some of us have already given up going to the gym, but I encourage you to continue taking care of yourself. We have to encourage one another to do constructive things with our lives. No one knows it all, and without encouraging one another, we will end up staying the same way we have always been.
Let’s move on.
God sends no one away empty except those who are full of themselves. The world is ruled by dead men. Now this statement may surprise you, but after a little thought, you would likely agree when you consider that many of the ideologies that serve as the foundations of all governments, religions, and social and civic institutions are built on dead men’s ideas.
Imperialism, monarchism, socialism, communism, democracy, and dictatorship are all born of ideas cultivated, incubated, and developed by men who, though long laid to rest, still live on in the practice of these ideas in our modern societies. Did you know that our planet is spinning under the power of ideas, and these ideas are the source of the conditions on this earth?
Just consider this: every government in every nation is guided and regulated by all different kinds of ideas. All laws and legislation are products of ideas, and the social and cultural standards in all communities throughout the world are results of ideas that societies have embraced as acceptable and thus manifested in social behavior.
An idea was introduced to the Earth by the Creator of the Earth and was lost soon after the beginning of the human journey. This big idea, God’s idea, is not a new idea. It has just been imitated, disguised, misused, misrepresented, and misunderstood by mankind throughout history, and still seems to elude the wisest among us.
Do you see what I am saying here? We always think and ask questions like: “So what is the big idea? What is it all about?” Well, the big idea is the ideology that served as the foundation of the first and original government instituted on planet earth. Ever since, it has been the object of the search of the human spirit.
This idea originated in the mind and heart of the Creator and was the motivation and purpose for the creation of the physical universe and the human species. This idea is superior to all the collective wisdom and ideas of human intellect. It is an idea that is beyond the philosophical reserves of human history and supersedes the institutions that have governed mankind since its first human society. It is superior to and contains all the noble aspirations of democracy, socialism, communism, imperialism, dictatorships, and all religions.
What I call this is the divine inspiration, celestial vision, and eternal purpose of the Creator for His creation and humanity down here on planet Earth. Therefore, the big idea is the concept of the ultimate governing program for mankind on Earth that provides for all the fundamental needs of humanity and produces a culture that integrates all the noble aspirations of all mankind, such as equality, justice, peace, love, unity, respect for human dignity, human value, and personal and corporate empowerment.
My prayer and my hope is that unveiling the beauty of this great idea will bring the solutions for us to look, and see to understand, the cause to all of our earthly problems - those problems like war, terrorism, crime, child abuse, environmental destruction, culture clashes, poverty, oppression, ethnic cleansing, economic crisis, family disintegration, political and religious corruption, community violence, and the culture of fear.
I believe with all my heart that this is the cause of all the problems that we have in our communities. It is something that we never, ever wanted to deal with, but is very real. It is the main reason why I have to mention this today. It has been an ongoing problem that we can’t seem to agree about in worship. We will talk more on that this month, but I want to follow and direct us more on what God wants to aim for concerning our own personal vision.
We left off last week by saying that God has prepared everything in us and in advance for us to do. We even try to fulfill it all in different ways. There are many people who have been looking for God’s will everywhere else, except in themselves. A large question that is ongoing as we search out is will always goes back to wondering “How does God speak to us?”
Some may even say, “I want to hear from God. Does He speak in an audible voice? Or does He come in the night and whisper in my ear? Does he speak through some animal or write on the wall like He did in the Old Testament?” But they do not realize that God has been speaking to them since they were born, and He is still speaking to them now.
My friends, He speaks to you through the thoughts, ideas, and visions that you keep having in your mind. Let me say this: if you are unclear about your vision, then you can ask God to reveal to you the deepest desires He has placed within you.
The bad part is that some people call psychic hot lines to get others to tell them their futures. Some Christians do nearly the equivalent of this when they run from meeting to meeting, asking people to prophesy over them concerning their futures, not understanding that God has given them their visions directly. Sir, Ma’am – yes, you! I want to remind you that you don’t need to consult psychics or read tarot cards. And you don’t need to run from place to place to find out His vision for you!
You see, a prophet can confirm your vision, but he or she will not give you your vision. It is God who gives you that directly, and He reveals it to you as you listen to Him and follow Him. Listen to what He says in His Word, in Psalm 1:23: “If you had responded to my rebuke, I would have poured out my heart to you and made my thoughts known to you.”
Now listen to what Jeremiah 31:33 says: “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts”. Did you just read that? Ladies and Gentlemen, it is God who puts His thoughts within us through the Holy Spirit. What we have to do is listen to what God has given us in our hearts and minds.
Now, one way to discern whether something is a vision from God is to determine whether you have a real desire to do it or merely a passing interest in it. You can be interested in something, yet not really have a passion to do it. If you have a passion, though, you will actively pursue your vision and things will start happening to bring it to pass.
Please remember that one person with a vision is greater than the passive force of ninety-nine people who are merely interested in doing or becoming something. Your vision will persist against the odds! So another way to recognize true vision is when you persevere in your dream regardless of great obstacles.
For example, when many people think about their dream, they say, “Oh, no, that is impossible for me to do!”. So, they settle down to do something lesser and end up being unfulfilled. The problem is often that we have been trained and brainwashed by our societies to dream small, think small, expect small, and not try to do anything too big.
You know, when we compare what we are told to see in the “real” world with our own dreams, our visions seem unrealistic and start to fade away. But yet, if a vision is truly from God, we are meant to continue on, no matter what the difficulty. Therefore, if you have a genuine vision from God, you will need to develop persistence, which we’ll talk about more next week.
Another point I want to end with today as we close, is that your vision is unselfish! You see, true vision is also unselfish. Its purpose is to bring about God’s kingdom on earth and to turn people unto Him. That is why a vision should always focus on helping humanity or building up others in some way or form.
Like what Paul Harvey used to say - that is not all of the story. To be continued!!!!!!!!! Have an awesome week! Good day!
My prayer for you: Father, I thank You for the opportunity to share these words with Your people. As we begin this month, what are You really saying to Your people? We know we have our hope and trust in You. But Abba, Daddy, some are not understanding how to hear from You. Therefore, in our deepest moments of silence this week, make us to recognize Your precious voice. It might not come in an audible way, but it may be through Your precious Word. As we hunger for Your touch, help us to discern correctly and know how to recognize and be sensitive to Your voice. There are times that we neglect Your ways, which has caused our steps to hit objects along the way that are not really helping our walk with You. May we always be in tune with Your Holy Spirit and be reminded when we are about to have a misstep. In our lifetime and on Your path, help us to see our way through the eyes of the Comforter Whom You have sent to help us and teach us Your ways. We do not want Your acts, but we want to know without any doubt that it is the voice of our Lord we hear speaking. Let us not be imitators, spectators, hesitators, commentators, dictators, or agitators. Rather, may we be those who are facilitators, looking to find solutions and bring the best out of people. Go with Your people today and bless them as they go and as they come. Bless their families and everything they do. Guard, protect, and be with them always. We love You. In Jesus’ wonderful name, amen and amen.
Thought: Your vision will persist to the end!
