It is God Who Gives the Vision, and We Make the Plans!
“But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to ME, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.” (Mark 10:14 NKJV).
It Is God Who Gives the Vision, and We Make the Plans!
I give thanks to God our Father, the Author and Finisher of our faith. Let there be glory to Him for the great things that He has done and for the things that are yet to be done. Good Morning to all of you who continue to tune in and engage each and every day we have been given.
When you make these devotionals a part of your week, you may come to the point that you find it hard to read, but each week I want to challenge you. If you are getting upset or mad at some of the things that I have been saying, then I cannot apologize because I have done my utmost in showing my love for you. If you are shaken to your core or have been offended in anything that I am saying, then it means that something is hitting home. I am trusting God to move you to the point that you will really submit and love Him with all of your heart, soul, spirit, and mind. These words are designed to help you be set free!!! So let’s begin!
For this week, I really want to focus on the subject that we have been talking about for the last couple of months. We have been talking about using wisdom daily in our lives to benefit from the goodness of kingdom living. I challenge you to use wisdom.
Within the topic of wisdom, I want to talk about a subject that has been in the news lately: abortion. I believe there is a misunderstanding of the whole plan of God on this subject. We need to meditate and talk about this topic. You see, abortion reflects the ignorance of responsibility and the denial of obligation. It is an act of self-comfort. The cost of abortion is the sacrifice of responsibility and fruitfulness.
It means the abortion of potential and so it condemns the future. The result has been the development of an entire discipline of science surrounding ecology and environmental studies. The underlying concern of this science is extinction, meaning “the termination of the potential forces within creation to fulfill itself.”
This brings me to my next point. It is so amazing that man has invested billions of dollars to protect the existence of animals, plants, forests, and even the ozone layer, yet man has neglected as his first priority the existence of human beings. In Western culture, man fights to protect whales, owls, trees, and fish. He also battles for the right to terminate human babies. Perhaps, this viewpoint would improve if every doctor who performs this tragic operation would be reminded before each abortion that the opportunity to perform this surgery is possible because his/her mother did not abort him or her.
Our actions are shameful. Each day we see that it has become normal to speak evil. Abortion is not just the taking of a life. Even more so, it shows a lack of understanding of the foundation of potential.
I believe the majority of those who choose abortion don’t understand the concept of potential and its relevance to their individual lives. The act of abortion affects not only this present generation, but generations to come. You see, when Adam broke God’s law, he aborted his seeds of potential for becoming all they were intended to be. Moreover, men and women throughout all ages have fallen far short of the glory of the Creator. The word “glory” refers to the “true nature, or full essence” of a thing.
To put it in other words, to fall short of the glory means to live below your true potential. This is what God calls sin. So sin is not a behavior; it is a disposition. One of the great biblical writers states it this way:
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for [the glory of] the sons of God to be revealed (Romans 8:18-19).
This passage states that the fall of man prevented the full glory or true potential of mankind from being revealed or manifested. All creation was affected by man’s sin. God’s creation is waiting for man’s glory or true potential to be exposed because creation’s destiny is tied to men.
Any abortion, whether it is the abortion of a dream, a vision, music, art, writing, leadership, business, or invention, affects both nature and the succeeding generations of man. Kris Vallotton says, “Abortion is a violation of the supernatural laws of the spirit. When you take the life of your unborn child, you invite all kinds of devastation into your heart that can’t necessarily be explained in words, but that will very much be experienced. This often results in symptoms like sickness, depression, fatigue, and a host of other negative conditions that are actually signs of the spiritual storm inside of you.”
It is not God’s plan for any one of us to abort our potential. We must decide carefully what we try to do with self and how we want to please others in our decision-making process.
Let’s move to principle #3 of vision and talk a little about it.
In order to be successful, you must have a clear plan. Why? Because there is no future without planning. I say this because I have known people who tried to be successful over and over again without a plan. It will never work.
In Proverbs 16:1, it says: “To man belongs the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the reply of the tongue.” Wow, that is a very powerful statement. What God is saying in effect is, “I gave you the vision. Now you put the plan on paper, and I will work out the details.”
Let’s look at Proverbs 16:9, which says, “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.” Now if you don’t have a plan, how can He direct you?
Have you expressed to God what is in your heart? Have you presented Him with your plan for accomplishing it? My friends, the Bible says that God will give you the desires of your heart if you will delight in Him (Psalm 37:4). However, it also implies that God will direct your steps once you make a concrete plan to move toward what you desire.
Think about that. It is your ideas that are seeds of destiny planted by God in the minds of humankind. When those ideas are cultivated, they become imagination. Imagination, if it is watered and developed, becomes a plan. When a plan is followed, it becomes a reality.
Here, though, there is a big “however”. When a person receives an idea from God, it must be cultivated soon or the idea often goes away. If that person doesn’t ever work on the idea, God will in turn give it to someone else. Inevitably, if that second person takes the idea, makes a plan, and starts to work on it, the first person will become jealous because he had the idea first!
Hear me. We are not to just have ideas. All ideas needs plans if they are going to become reality. It seems that young people often think their dream will just happen. They find out later, after they have sadly wasted many years of their lives, that this is not the case. A plan is a must.
You see, there is no way any of us can move toward our dreams without a plan. Jesus said that a wise person doesn’t start to build something unless he first works out the details:
Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it? For if he lays the foundation and is not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule him, saying, “This fellow began to build and was not able to finish.” (Luke 14:28-30).
You know, God Himself had a plan when He created humanity. Ephesians 1:11 says, “In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.”
I seem to be doing something every time I go home to the islands. Some have said to me, “Man, you always seem to be going somewhere to do something.” Well, I just say to them, “I discovered something about my life. When you sit on a canoe in the island, and on the ocean, and relax, the current will take you wherever it takes you. Even if you don’t want to go there. It is just the same in life.”
There are too many people that are floating their lives down the current of business and still expect to make it to their goal. A ship has a compass so that the navigator can know what direction he is going in. The ship also has a rudder so that the pilot can steer it. However, a ship is given a specific course - a plan by the captain - so that it can arrive at its destination.
Remember, all three are necessary: the compass, the rudder, and the plan. Just because the ship has a rudder doesn’t necessarily mean it is going anywhere. The ship needs to be steered according to the coordinates of the plan. It is the same in life. Many people have been given “clear sailing”. Yet, they never make it to port, because they did not have a destination.
In closing, what do I mean by “clear sailing?” Clear sailing means opportunities. There are many opportunities that come to people, but they have no plan in place that would enable them to make something out of them.
Suppose you wish you could start a business, but you’ve never thought about how you would go about it. Then, all of a sudden someone came to you and said, “I really want to invest some money, and I like you. So why don’t you develop something with it?” What would be your answer? I think you would probably answer something like, “Oh, I would like to, but right now I am just a clerk.”
However, if you had developed a specific plan, if you had been reading appropriate books and preparing yourself, if you had everything down on paper, you would be prepared for this opportunity, and you could really say, “Yes Sir! You have the money? Here is my plan, and I am ready to go.”
Go with God this week and make a good plan to go where you have never gone before. You have your life in front of you. Do not go into relax mode. Do not drift in your same current for all your years. Make it useful and let God lead you through your potential. Blessings! Have an awesome week.
Prayer: Father, I have given your people this point to ponder. We even discussed things that may be difficult for them to talk about, including how abortion is ignorance of our responsibility and denial of our obligation. That abortion is the death of the future of the earth. We must always remind ourselves that when we are coming close to these thoughts of abortion, that it shows that we value self more than our obedience to you. The Word of Jesus does not stop the children from coming to Him. It shows His real love and such is the kingdom. Forgive us for our ignorance; forgive us of our sins. Give us a new perspective on life for each day. I know we have erred. I thank You we can see today and look forward to tomorrow. We are successful because we now know that we must have our plan. Thank You for reminding us in Your Word that to us are the plans of the heart but from You comes the reply of our tongues. You, Oh Lord, are our Helper in times of need. As we plan our course in our hearts, You determine our steps. Let us not ignore the opportunities that You have provided for each and every one of us. Let us heed the lesson from the example of a ship without a compass. We do not want to drift and relax on the current of life, going to and fro not knowing where to go. But we can now say, we are getting up to follow Your Word. Your Word is our compass day and night. Thank you that You will show us our vision and plans for tomorrow. Help us to realize that our ways are not Yours. Bless Your people this week and be with them always. Give them favor in what they do. May Your love encompass them. Bless them. We pray this, In Jesus’ wonderful name, Amen!
Thought: You have a blueprint of your vision!
