Understanding Wisdom and Potential!
Understanding Wisdom and Potential!
“Be strong and of good courage, and do not fear nor be dismayed for the Lord God-my God-will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord” (1 Chronicles 28:20).
Good day to all of you, and may the grace of God lead you and be with you always. Welcome back. I thank God for you and your family as we share each week, being the light of the world and speaking the peace of God.
How are you doing so far? Time is moving so fast. It seems like we just crossed over from 2018 to 2019, but we are already into the 5th month. Thank God for continually blessing us. I pray that the things that you have been planning for this year and your desires will come to pass. Let the joy of the Lord continue to be your peace and strength.
Let’s begin today talking about wisdom and potential and how we can see through eyes that acknowledge we need to better ourselves. It is through the eyes of the Holy Spirit that will let us enlarge our revelation of the things of the Kingdom.
Did you know that the potential for your life is by fulfilling purpose? However, if you imprison that potential, you rob your life of its purpose and fulfillment. Let me tell you that you and everyone else, including myself, on this planet possess the awesome treasure called potential. This treasure comes from God. Sadly, too much of this treasure has been buried every day, untapped and untouched, in the cemeteries of our world. So many talents, skills, and creativity have been lost to the world for want of a little courage. Many have chosen to have nothing to do with God, removing availability and losing opportunity with so much time lost. Living with ability brings responsibility. Sadly, ability has been lost with irresponsibility.
The potential of many men and women is unfulfilled while living on earth. In essence, their purpose here was stillborn. These men and women are leaving still pregnant with potential. You see, everything in creation was designed to function on the simple principle of receiving and releasing. Life depends on this principle. Think about this. What if plants refuse to release the oxygen they possess? What if human beings refuse to release the carbon dioxide we produce? What do you think will happen? The result would be chaos and death for the entire planet. You must understand that your valuable deposit of potential was given to enrich the lives of other people. Unreleased potential is not only useless, it is dangerous both for the person or things who failed to release it, and for everything that is affected by them. That is why dormant potential is not healthy, advantageous, safe, or effective. When potential is kept, it self-destructs!
In previous words of encouragement I talked about the tremendous potential locked inside of us, waiting for demands to be made on it. Today, my brothers and sisters, we have a responsibility to use what God stored in us for the good of our communities and the whole world. We dare not leave this planet without releasing it. Moreover, there are many of us who are aware of the ability we have inside of us, but we have been too frustrated by our failures to release the abilities we have.
Why isn’t potential being released? Why isn’t purpose being fulfilled? Some of us blame circumstances that have happened in the past. Others blame social status. Still others transfer the responsibility for their failures and frustration to their lack of formal education or their less than ideal opportunities. I have used these circumstances concerning my potential over the years.
I had to come to the realization that I have no excuse to justify the destruction of the seed of potential that God has placed within me. You have no excuse to justify the destruction of the seed of potential that God has placed within you. You can become the man or woman you were born to be. You can accomplish the vision you see.
My friends, you can build whatever you have purposed to do. You are the only one who can stop you. You have the ability to change your attitude and your internal environment until they are conducive to the germination of your potential seed. Please hear me. You must not add to the wealth of the graveyard. There is nothing that you can do when your time is up and you have not released your full potential while you are still living on earth. You owe it to the next generation to live courageously. Your treasure of potential has to be unleashed. Yes Sir! Yes Ma’am! The world is waiting and needs what God deposited in you. You must release your reservoir and tap the untapped.
Principle #2 says: You have to know your potential for fulfilling your vision.
You will never be successful in your vision until you truly understand your potential. Remember, your potential is determined by the assignment God has given you to do. Whatever you were born to do, you are equipped to do. All the resources that you need will be available as you need of them.
So what does that mean? It means that God gives you ability to fulfill responsibility. When you discover your dream, you will also discover your ability. We should always remember that God will never call you to an assignment without giving you the provision for accomplishing it.
Now if you understand this principle, no one can stop you from fulfilling your vision. The one thing that we must understand, is that we must come into an awareness of our potential. Potential is hidden capacity, untapped power, and unreleased energy. It is all you could be but have not yet become.
I really want you to get this. Read what I am saying over and over and see it for your own good. If you can capture this principle, all things will come into alignment. Your potential is who you really are, in accordance to your vision, even if you don’t yet know your true self.
Know that your potential is the person who has been trapped inside you because of false ideas of who you are, either by your own creation or the creation of others. One thing that you must understand is that God has created you to do something wonderful, and He has given you the ability and resources you need to do it.
In Ephesians 3:20 it says, “Now to him who is able to do unmeasurably [exceeding, abundantly (KJV)] more than all we ask or imagine according to his power that is at work within us.”
There are many of us who have heard this verse so many times that we think we know it. Yet, I do not believe that we really understand what it is saying: “According to his power [or potential] that is at work” Working where? Well, it does not say His power is at work in heaven. It says it is at work in us!
God put His vision and His Spirit within us. That is more than enough potential for our needs each and every day. What are the implications of this truth? It means that what you accomplish has nothing to do with your past, your race, your appearance, or who your parents were.
These lies are what most people hear every day in the news or wherever you get your information. Your potential is “the power” working within you. That power is actually working within you for the fulfillment of your dream. That power is God. I am so thankful to God because that Scripture changed my life at a point when I was not manifesting much of my purpose.
Did you know that I was brought up with the religious idea that you receive only what you ask for? Consequently, with that thinking, I did not receive much. But suddenly, let me say this again, suddenly, through reading God’s Word, I came to understand that God never promised to give me merely what I asked for.
Instead, He said something very truly extraordinary. He said that He will do “immeasurably” or “exceedingly abundantly” beyond all that I ask for. Now, stop for just a minute and think about that. In other words, my imagination is not big enough for all that He wants to do for me. I grasped this truth and from that day forward, it began to transform my perspective.
That truth has enabled me to progress from the knowledge of my purpose to possessing the faith that accompanies my vision. In my mind’s eye, the visions and dreams that God has given me have no limits. I hear people (including those that I serve with in the church) talk of not accomplishing anything. When I do, I start distancing myself from them. What they are saying is not what I read in His Word.
God gave us the gift of imagination to keep us from only focusing on our present condition. What He wants us to do is to take a “tour” of our visions on a regular basis. Ask yourself this question: “Self – what do you imagine yourself doing?”
Well, tell self, “Let’s go on a tour of your dream, and visit everything in it. Just check it out. See all the details. Visit and notice its value.” Then, when you wake up to the present, ask yourself, “What has been stopping me?” Then, say, “Let’s go there, God!”
Listen to what God told Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5). That is real, my friends and it is in the Bible. Notice that God used the past tense (formed, knew, appointed). He had already set apart and appointed Jeremiah as a prophet. At first, Jeremiah responded, “I do not know how to speak” (v. 6). Isn’t that the same thing we do sometimes? I believe God’s response was, “Please, don’t ever say that! If I built you to be a prophet, do not tell Me you can’t talk!” (verses 6-7).
Once God showed Jeremiah why he was born, Jeremiah discovered what he could do. Jeremiah finally understood his vision, and he began to realize his ability. But at first, he didn’t think he could speak publicly for God. That is why I said, whatever God calls for, He always provides for, and whatever He requires, he enables us to do.
In closing today, God gave Jeremiah the ability to speak for Him: “Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, ‘Now I have put my words in your mouth.” (Jeremiah 1:9). You must understand that God will never call you to do something that He hasn’t already given you the ability to do, or that He won’t give you the ability to do when the time comes.
Don’t ever think of quitting. That is not part of God’s plan. His mission for you is not finished until He says so! You should not allow any other human being to judge your potential. If you do, you may not see your purpose. So please hear me. Whatever God is causing you to dream is a revelation of your ability. Your responsibility is really “respond-ability” - the ability to respond to the requirements of your vision. Have a blessed week, and God bless you all. Until next time!
Prayer: Father, I am so humbled by Your wisdom. In all things that You created and put forth, I cannot fathom, or try to understand the beauty of all Your plans. Sometimes, I am so lost in figuring out how this thing is made and how that thing is done. But my faith has been made stronger and is more settled, than ever before. It is all because of Your promises and Your faithfulness to every human being. Your ability helps me to fulfill my responsibility. My assignment is even determined by what You have given me. You have supplied everything I need for it. Above all, the gift of Your Holy Spirit that is within me, is more than enough for my potential and for my needs. You put me in awe with what You have done, and that is immeasurably, exceedingly, abundantly beyond all that I can ask for, think about or even imagine. Your Spirit rekindles my imagination to think big and receive big from You. That is a miracle that I can never be able to explain in my lifetime. What an awesome God You are! What a loving God You are! You then appoint, anoint, and establish people to be in my path as I serve and worship You. Thank You for the gift of imagination! I will live loving You for the rest of my days. Thank You for Your revelation, knowledge, and wisdom.
My prayer for you: Bless Your people as they move forward in life. Change their perspective and ways of thinking about You. Let them realize the magnitude of knowing You, Abba Father. Let them not do as the children of Israel in the wilderness, understanding only Your acts. Let them not remain in the wilderness, not believing in spite of seeing all Your miracles. They will not follow the same pattern. Instead, let them live understanding Your ways. Let them be citizens of the Kingdom. Forgive us from not using Your gift of imagination and vision. We will release Your treasure of potential that You have placed within us. Our purpose will be fulfilled. We pray this, in Jesus’ wonderful name, amen!
Thought: God gave us the gift of imagination!
